Editorial Policy

How the guides, surf-spot pages and destination pages on this site are written, checked and corrected — and where the commercial line sits.

Who writes the editorial

The guides, surf-spot pages and destination pages are written by the platform, not by the businesses listed on it. A supplier cannot write, edit or approve any of them.

They are written by people who surf these breaks and drive these roads. Spot conditions, tide preferences and driving times come from doing them repeatedly rather than from aggregating other websites.

What is not for sale

A supplier cannot pay to be recommended in a guide, to rank higher in search results, or to have a destination page describe its town more warmly. There is no paid placement anywhere on this site and no advertising.

We do not publish invented statistics. We do not describe a wave as beginner-friendly when it is not, or a rocky desert as sand dunes. Where a spot is dangerous we say so plainly, even when that costs a booking.

Numbers and figures

Water temperatures, driving distances, prices and seasonal ranges are typical planning figures rather than guarantees. Where a figure varies year to year — swell, water level in the valley pools, desert night temperatures — we give a range and say what drives the variation.

Commercial relationships

The platform earns a 15% commission when you book, so it earns more when you book than when you do not. That is the obvious interest and we would rather name it than pretend to neutrality.

One further disclosure: the business that founded this marketplace also lists on it as a supplier. Its listings carry its own name, and are subject to the same verification, the same commission and the same review rules as everyone else's. It receives no editorial preference.

Where booking through this site is not the right answer — a trip better done independently, a month that suits a different coast — the guides say so.

Reviews

Reviews are separate from editorial and cannot be edited by either side. A review can only be written against a booking made through this site that the supplier has marked completed, and a listing with none shows no score rather than a flattering placeholder.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change. Conditions on this coast change; so should the pages describing them. [email protected]

Review schedule

Seasonal pages are reviewed before each season. Spot pages are reviewed annually or whenever conditions change materially. Anything describing prices is reviewed whenever they change.

Waves, prices and new camps, once a month

One email a month: what is working on the coast, what it costs, and the listings that just went live. No more than that, and you can leave in one click.

We send the confirmation link first, so nobody can add your address but you.
