About Surf House in Morocco

A surf house is a house rather than a hotel: a handful of rooms, a shared kitchen and terrace, boards in the hallway, and a size that means you will know everyone staying there by the second evening.

It is the dominant form of accommodation in Taghazout and Tamraght, and it is what most people picture when they picture a surf trip. Rooms are usually private or twin with shared or ensuite bathrooms, breakfast is included more often than not, and dinner is sometimes a house meal and sometimes your own problem.

The distinction from a camp is that a house sells you the bed, not the week. Lessons, board hire and guiding are booked separately or not at all, which suits surfers who do not need instruction and want to run their own days. Check whether any meals are included before assuming.

Who it suits

Independent surfers, returning visitors who no longer need a camp, and small groups who want a base rather than a programme.
