About SUP in Morocco
Stand-up paddle in Morocco splits cleanly in two: flat-water touring on the bays and estuaries, which anyone can do on a first morning, and SUP surfing, which is considerably harder than it looks from the beach.
The flat-water version runs in Agadir bay, the sheltered corner at Imsouane, and the Souss and Massa estuaries, where it doubles as birdwatching on still water. It is the most accessible thing on this coast for a non-surfer and one of the better options for a mixed group or a flat day.
SUP surfing is a different sport and requires a word about etiquette. A paddle board catches waves earlier and further out than a surfboard, and taking that advantage into a busy line-up will not be welcomed at Anchor Point or Imsouane bay. Learn it somewhere quiet — good schools here will tell you the same.
