About Guesthouse in Morocco

A guesthouse — often a riad or a family-run pension — is the least surf-specific option here and frequently the most interesting one: a few rooms, usually a family living on site, and breakfast on a roof terrace.

You are staying in someone's building rather than a business built for surfers, and the difference shows in both directions. The hospitality is better and more personal, the local knowledge is real, and the price is low. There will probably be nowhere purpose-built to store a board and no one to drive you to the beach.

That makes it a good fit for surfers who already have their own transport and equipment, and for travellers whose trip is not only about surfing. In Imsouane and Essaouira in particular, the guesthouses are often the better rooms in town.

Who it suits

Independent travellers with their own board and wheels, couples wanting somewhere with character, and anyone for whom the surfing is part of the trip rather than all of it.
