The efficient version. Starting on the coast and finishing in Marrakech means you never drive the same road twice, and an open-jaw flight into Agadir and out of Marrakech usually costs less than two one-ways.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Ouarzazate
East through the Souss valley to Taroudant, walled and unhurried, then up into the Anti-Atlas to Taliouine, where Morocco's saffron is grown and hand-harvested at dawn in late autumn. The cooperative here is worth the stop even if you buy nothing.
Through Tazenakht, whose Ouzguita carpets use a weaving tradition specific to this area, and on across bare high plateau to Ouarzazate. Night in a hotel, dinner included, and a first proper look at a desert sky.
Day 2 — Ouarzazate → Dades → Todra → Erg Chebbi
The Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs east along the Dades river, stopping at the Dades gorges for the rock formations known as Monkey Fingers, then the Todra gorge at Tinghir where the canyon walls close to a few hundred metres of vertical limestone.
From Tinghir the country empties out. Stony hammada, then, quite suddenly, the wall of the erg on the horizon — one of the more dramatic arrivals in travel.
Camels at the dune edge for the ride in at sunset, camp between the dunes, tagine in a communal tent, drumming round a fire and a sky with no light pollution for hundreds of kilometres. Sandboarding while the light holds.
Day 3 — Sunrise → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Up before light for sunrise from the crest, breakfast at camp, then west towards Ouarzazate and on to Aït Ben Haddou — a fortified earthen village above the Ounila river, still partly inhabited, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb through the ksar to the granary at the top for the view back down.
The final leg crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 metres, switchbacking down through argan and walnut terraces into Marrakech in the late afternoon. Drop-off at your riad or the airport.

FAQ
Should I book a flight out of Marrakech?
Yes, and ideally as an open-jaw ticket with the inbound into Agadir. It is normally cheaper than two one-ways and it removes a three-hour transfer back to the coast that serves no purpose.
What time do we reach Marrakech?
Late afternoon on day three, traffic depending. Do not book a flight out before mid-evening. Most people stay a night in the medina and fly the following day.
Is Atlas Studios included?
The stop is, the ticket is not. It is worth an hour if you like standing on old film sets and entirely skippable if you would rather sit in a café in Ouarzazate.
How much of this is driving?
Around 21 hours across three days, broken by real stops rather than photo pauses. We publish that number because most operators do not, and it is the honest way to compare desert tours.
